So you can just wash them down the drain, or we ask that you recycle them if possible.

We are also recycling all of the cardboard boxes we get items shipped to us in.  We cut them into rectangles to be used for additional protection layers with the glass items we ship. Or we save them to ship large wholesale orders of coffee in.  We can’t get away with not buying new boxes but we do reuse or recycle all the boxes we get.  Could you do the same?

We have just got in our new Colombia Supremo!  Spectacled Bear!  What is it?  Here at Our Coffee Barn we are always trying to find Earth Friendly Coffees and helping out a little known Bear in Colombia sure fits the bill.

Since we started the Spectacled Bear program in the fall of 2005, we have donated $2121.90 to the Wildlife Conservation Society. This money is earmarked to study and help save the Spectacled Bear, endangered in Colombia.

Our Colombian Supremo Seasonal Select Spectacled Bear is back. That’s right, Spectacled Bear, not Speckled Bear. What’s with the name, you ask?…

Our Matt Hupton came up with this idea a few years back and designed the program to give something back for this coffee that isn’t known to be sustainably-grown. Doing research on Colombia and the native animals there, we ran across the cute Spectacled Bear, named such because he looks as if he’s wearing spectacles!

So, we call the coffee the Spectacled Bear and we donate money from the sale of this coffee to the Wildlife Conservation Society (www.wcs.org) to study and help save the Spectacled Bear, which is endangered.

This coffee comes to us from different growing regions in Colombia, based on crop cycle and cup quality. We’ve seen coffees from Huila, Medellin, Narino and Cauca fill this label.
