Coffee Kids!

We are raising our 4 kids with money we make from the coffee these kids families harvested. Please take a moment to think about these kids, as well as the kids and families in the US that need help right now. Can you find a little extra in your budget to help out in your community? This is our way of helping the Coffee Kids out.

We are starting this new program with all orders being shipped on Monday March 30th through May 1st 2009. We will have a new Charity for the month of May.

How it will work:
We realized that with over 30 different varieties of coffee available a single Coffee of the Week program just did not work very well.

This new plan should meet everyone’s needs!

Roasted Coffee:

Retail Sales:

For every 5 pound bag of Fresh Roasted Coffee sold on our Retail Store, we will donate $1.00 to the charity listed above.

For every 1 pound bag of Fresh Roasted Coffee sold on our Retail Store, we will donate 50 cents to the charity listed above.

Wholesale Sales:

For every 5 pound bag of Fresh Roasted Coffee sold on our Wholesale Store, we will donate 50 cents to the charity listed above.

Green Coffee Beans:

We will make this simple, for every pound of green coffee beans sold on our Retail Store we will donate 10 cents to the charity listed above.

Wholesale Sales:

We will make this simple, for every pound of green coffee beans sold on our Wholesale Store we will donate 5 cents to the charity listed above.

We hope to help as many people as we can during the tough economy we are facing, please try to help wherever you can in your community, as well as take advantage of our new Charity of the Month program.

Specialty Grade Roasted Coffee Roasted and Ready to Ship Roasted Coffee Beans If you can’t wait until one of our roasting days (Monday,Wednesday and Friday mornings) for fresh roasted coffee?Want to save some money and still enjoy great coffee?A little like the “Day Old” section in a Bakery. But not even close to the bargain bin of, beyond the “sell by date” in the grocery store. We will take coffees off the Pre Roasted Coffee listings if they are still there after 30 days. Coffee is still considered fresh longer than this by many of the bigger roasters. Any coffee we take off the Pre Roasted Section because it is over 30 days since roasted will be donated to a local food shelf. I have read that the “mermaid logo” (Starbucks) coffee company let’s ALL of their coffee “rest” and “de-gass” for 2 weeks before it is loaded onto the trucks for delivery to another regional warehouse, before it is trucked again to a retail store and ends up on a shelf for sale. How fresh can that be? Consider this when you purchase coffee from this section! The prices will be unbeatable! The free 1/2 pound with each 2 pounds purchased DOES NOT apply to this section! If you check this section on a regular basis you should be able to find some incredible deals!

Back in Stock! 8 Cup Yama Stove Top Vacuum Coffee Brewer The Yama Vacuum Coffee Brewer is Back! Also known as a Coffee Syphon or Coffee Siphon This is the newest version of the famous Yama vacuum coffee syphon. They now come in two sizes, a convenient 5 cup model and a larger 8 cup model for you serious syphon brewers! If you’ve never had vacuum brewed coffee before, you’ll be in for a treat, both visually and in taste with our Yama Vac Pot. Vacuum brewed coffee was initially invented in the 1840s in France, and became very popular in the United States around the middle part of the 20th century. Companies like Silex, Sunbeam, Westinghouse, General Electric, Cory and others had entire lines of vacuum brewers for sale during this period. This brewing method undeniably produced the best tasting filter coffee, but it lost favor in the convience-obsessed America of the 1950 and beyond. While other parts of the world continued to use vacuum brewers (most notably Europe and Japan), in the U.S., percolation, auto drip and instant coffees gradually replaced vacuum brewing use, bringing super convenient (yet also super bad tasting) coffee to the American breakfast table. Today, quality coffee is making a major comeback in North America, and as a result, people are starting to use vacuum brewers again. Their technique of brewing your coffee at perfect brewing temperatures ensures a perfect cup. And the way it makes the coffee! Everyone who sees a vac pot in action is amazed at the process. You will be amazed as well. Our Yama Vacuum Brewers produce 5 cups or 8cups, (depending on model) of quality coffee, and requires a slightly finer grind than normal auto drip, though it is very forgiving for almost any grind type. This model works on gas and electric rangetops, and comes with a wire diffuser for use on electric coil burners. It takes about 4 minutes to heat the water, and another 2 minutes to brew. Once you remove from the heat source, the “kickdown” takes about 30 seconds and is the best part of the show. Remove the top, placing it in its convertible lid/stand, and bring the pot to the table for serving. The Yama Vacuum Brewer ships with one filter cloth, the filter assembly, a measuring spoon, lid/stand, and the vacuum brewer, and comes with a 6 month warranty. We recently purchased the Nesco Coffee Bean Roaster and some Green Coffee Beans. Our first attempts at roasting our own coffee turned out great. The Roaster is easy to use and is a well made product. It performed flawlessly.

I have talked with Dan at US Roaster Corp about our new roaster.  He says it is on schedule and maybe a little ahead of schedule!  I asked for a picture but he has not sent one yet.  So I am going to put a stock photo that they have of this roaster here until I get some of ours.

Ours will be red and stainless Steel also!  In fact it should look exactly like this one!  Since we are getting the Profiler too.

This is still a Small Batch roaster, 25 or 30 pounds per batch max.  Most of our competitors are using about the same size roaster.  We should be able to keep up with any wholesale roasted orders and the small retail orders, when we have both our Diedrich IR3 and the new US Roaster Corp running at the same time!  I can’t wait!

We are keeping the Charitable Coffee of the Week the Honduras SHG Organic.   We are going to keep this the Charitable Coffee of the Week for at least this week, if not until our new roaster is up and running, or we run out of it!

The Charity will also remain Coffee Kids until our new roaster is up and running.
